About us

Learn Arabic.
Find your feet in Medina.

Perhaps you want to understand the Qur’an more deeply. Perhaps you already read Arabic and are looking for the time and support to go further. We recognise that wish. It is why we bring study and accommodation together in Medina al-Munawwarah.

Started by students. For fellow students.

Study in Medina was founded by students of the Islamic University of Medina. We know from experience what studying here can mean. We also understand the questions that come with it: where will you stay, which lessons suit you, and who can you turn to? Study in Medina grew out of that experience.

Support in a language you speak.

Guidance is available in Dutch, English, German and Arabic. You can contact us about your studies, accommodation or everyday life.

The programme

Learn a language. Take a foundation home.

From the first letters

You do not need to know Arabic yet. Lessons are taught by an experienced Arabic specialist who is used to supporting complete beginners. You start with reading and pronouncing letters and words, then build towards understanding, reading and speaking.

Learning beyond the classroom

In Medina, you hear and see Arabic every day. What you practise in the morning may be something you recognise or use later that day. Being close to Masjid An-Nabawi also makes room for prayer, quiet and a daily rhythm that includes study.

Continuing after your stay

We want you to take home more than individual words. The aim is a foundation you can keep building on. Whether you stay for one, two or three months, we discuss where you are starting and what you would like to learn.
